Russian salad is also called as Oliver salad. I have tasted this salad served along with Pizza's from pizza hut. This can go as a best accompaniment for pizza's and toasted garlic breads. It's a mix of boiled veggies and mayonnaise. It is also provided as an appetizer's in some restaurants. Very simple & easy to make and tastes yummy too. Mayo and ketchup combination blends well with this salad.
Here i am posting the much awaited recipe i was waiting to give a try. Yes it's Pizza!! Who don't love pizza?
We normally order or dine in pizza's form Pizza hut as that's near our house. We like the combo pack which is served with salad and garlic bread, an apt combination to go with pizza. The salads served there are my favorite as they are topped with special dressings.
Pasta sauce is the one which i used to make at home for simple pasta recipes . I will be posting it soon. I dint search much for this recipe, just alternated my pasta sauce recipe and added few more ingredients. There are of course many ways to make homemade pizza sauce. Each home cooks will have their own version. This recipe is a thick version so that it can be applied on pizza base.

Guacamole is famous Mexican dip generally served with tortillas. I came to see avocado fruit in supermarkets only after coming here. Though it's a healthy fruit , the plain taste of raw avocado hesitated me to try any recipe from it. I have tried some salads but guacamole recipe really turned to be a hit.

Paneer butter masala is one of the popular vegetarian dish of Indian cuisine. Either Paneer butter masala or Paneer tikka masala is our staple order for naan or roti's in any veg restaurant and it's a hit combo. Paneer cooked in spicy rich & creamy tomato gravy makes it a delicious accompaniment for any Indian breads.

This is a popular dish in the Thirunelveli district which is also called as mappilai sodhi. I tried this recipe for its name and came to know much more from my friend. I found this recipe somewhat similar to oalan recipe of Kerala. The flavor of jeera and moong dal which helps in thickening the gravy makes the difference. Vegetables cooked in coconut milk makes this gravy delicious.

I have never tasted brownies before i came here few years back. Ever since i tasted these at Baskin Robbins they became my favorites. I am not a great fan of cream cakes and so brownies always substitute it. Whatever may be the texture, either cake like, spongy, moist, dense, fudgy etc., i like them all and i like to try them too.

Happy Makara Sankaranthi and Pongal 2014!!!
Pongal always reminds me, the pongal served in amman kovil (temple) which tastes divine. The smell of ghee tastes heavenly. Normally my mum used to make pongal in traditonal brass pot (i.e the vengala pannai) which is girdled with fresh turmeric plants and leaves that brings in the festive mood. The sugarcane's are yet another favorite of pongal days.
I am posting some easy and regular pongal recipes this year in my blog. Aval pongal is one which i normally used to make during navarathiri. This follows the same process as of the sakkari pongal.

Pongal is a common breakfast among south Indians. This is one of our regular breakfast or dinner during weekends. A simple and easy dish that can be made in a jiff. I like it served hot with chutney, sambar and vada like the one served in hotel. Everyone will have their own unique style of making this recipe. Normally my mum use to make this way. I made this for dinner so my clicks were made in the night.

The chill winter outside makes me carve for something hot . Pasta is simple and easy Italian dish which can be normally had as dinner or break time munch. I love the different shapes of pasta. Different pasta's in bottles simply makes the kitchen beautiful. I like the basic tomato pasta sauce tossed with any pasta which i used to store normally. Mithu loves more of the white sauce preparation.
Gobi 65 or Chilly Gobi brings back my college days. I learned this recipe during my college days when i visited my friends house. Her cousin sister is a great cook and she used to make veg dhum biriyani and chilly Gobi specially for us. I never miss chilly Gobi when it comes to serving guests during lunch. I remember tasted this first at a kaiyenthi bhavan during my higher classes.

Paneer is our Indian cheese and rich vegetarian dish. It's used in most of our Indian dishes, both sweets and gravies. Whenever we visit a restaurant paneer gravies will be our regular order for veg dishes. Paneer dishes are always our family favorite. Normally i use store bought paneer for all my recipes. Ever since i started making my own paneer at home all my recipes are with home made paneer. It's pretty easy and only the setting part is bit time consuming . But that’s important for a perfect paneer.
